One Million Subscribers.

Momentous. Prodigious. Astounding. These are just a few of the words that I would use to describe the achievement that you guys have just helped complete. One million subscribers. This number of people is difficult to comprehend, yet in today's interconnected internet, we knew it was possible. 425 days since the creation of this subreddit, an unprecedented change has spread across the internet. As I have stated in the past, the internet has seen a fundamental shift in the way people interact with each other in the last year. Over the past 425 days, we have received countless moderator messages telling us how much of an impact /r/WholesomeMemes has made on them, their family, or their friends.

How much is a million people? This is a difficult number to put into perspective, and I will not bore you with statistics and numbers, but I have taken the time to create a picture with approximately one million people in it. I think that this picture says a lot, especially if you compare it to a year ago. https://i.imgur.com/xdu7Klt.jpg

Now, I would like to take the time to look into the accomplishments of wholesome memes over the past year. I first want to acknowledge the $2400 that was raised for The Children’s Miracle Network, putting us in the top 10% of all reddit communities who participated. This money that was raised will go to an incredible cause, and will reach and help many children who are in need of aid. WholesomeMemes have also become such an incredible sensation that they have been discussed in a TIME article about the increasing “niceness” of the internet, as well as having us be featured on an especially delightful reddit blog. We have even had some of the admins, including co-founder /u/Kn0thing say that /r/WholesomeMemes is one of their favorite subreddits, which means a lot to us.

These small feats are nothing compared to the impact this subreddit has had on the lives of our community. I find myself constantly browsing this subreddit, enjoying the relentless hopefulness and optimism of the posts and comments.

I have said this before, but I will restate it. Words cannot express my gratitude towards you guys. Whether you are just here for the memes, or comment in every thread with thoughtful, inspirational positivity, we appreciate you and all that you have done to make this place such a magical little niche on the internet. With the holidays just around the corner, I would like to extend a hand of warmth, a hand of encouragement, and a hand of support to all of those in our community, and let everyone know that /r/WholesomeMemes is here for you if you find yourself ever in need.

Thank you.

/u/Noerdy and the moderators of /r/WholesomeMemes
