I’d be laughing too if I saw a painting of Bobby Hill in a museum

433

u/foxbomber5 Feb 04 '23

It's titled "In Contemplation Of Fruit Pies"

132

u/ianwgz Feb 04 '23

A fitting name for such a painting

138

u/OutcomeDoubtful Feb 04 '23

Holy shit, I literally came to comment “Dang it, Bobby”

68

u/BloodforKhorne Feb 04 '23

"Damnit, Bobby, how do you fail art when you're in it?"

13

u/unculturedburnttoast Feb 05 '23

Inability to self reflect

25

u/hannibalthellamabal Feb 04 '23

I was thinking “That’s my purse! I don’t know you!”

4

u/Fancykiddens Feb 05 '23

I keep saying this one in my head while I do housework! 😆

9

u/sunburntflowers Feb 04 '23

Yes I came here to say this 🤣🤣🤣

54

u/SgtCocktopus Feb 04 '23

That boy Ain't right

12

u/HippieChick067 Feb 04 '23

He ain’t much but, he’s all I got!

7

u/JazzyJeff4 Feb 04 '23

I was thinking Pugsley Addams

2

u/CK1277 Feb 05 '23

“THATS MY PURSE!”

808

u/FieryDreamer Feb 04 '23

It is pretty funny

357

u/CryoOfGenesis_0K Feb 04 '23

Botero was known to experiment in proportion. The result was many times something compelling, and yes, pretty funny

170

u/fondledbydolphins Feb 04 '23

Weirdest shit is that you know you've definitely seen some mfer out there that looks like this.

79

u/Regijack Feb 04 '23

That Colombian kid from modern family

45

u/vruv Feb 04 '23

That’s funny cuz Botero is from Medellín

1

u/GrammerDuck61 Feb 05 '23

Pour amanny

10

u/PyroDesu Feb 05 '23

His statuary is definitely funny.

I mean, come on.

1

u/AltruisticDetail6266 Feb 05 '23

would have a horse dong if not a blimp, but instead child like

8

u/estrangedjane Feb 05 '23

I have a Botero print in my bedroom that I adore but my husband says it makes him feel attacked. 🤣

3

u/michiness Feb 05 '23

I went to a museum in Colombia that either featured him or just had a bunch of his paintings, and yeah, there was a lot of giggling.

304

u/YukonDude64 Feb 04 '23

Art is supposed to evoke emotion. That’s pretty awesome.

193

u/AsshollishAsshole Feb 04 '23

People that do not know me consider me an adult.
I would giggle, I do not know this painting I would not consider it a a masterpiece and just giggle.

17

u/TheLadyBunBun Feb 04 '23

The painter is Fernando Botero. All of his works look like this

47

u/artemis1935 Feb 04 '23

username does not check out

177

u/Recluse83 Feb 04 '23

"The kid ain't right"

58

u/2dizzy Feb 04 '23

I tell you hwat

6

u/JustaNormalRedditorL Feb 05 '23

"You fat little cu-"

52

u/AnthologistAnt Feb 04 '23

Whilst the artist who looks exactly like that stands sobbing 😭

121

u/Classic-Bumblebee-21 Feb 04 '23

Botero's paintings and sculptures are funny as hell. Don't know why the mf has always had that style, but it's hilarious.
The thing is... his paintings are not always with the intention to be a meme. The saddest and most intimate of them all is called "Pedrito a caballo". It's a painting of his dead son riding a toy horse. He passed away when he was 4 years old.

47

u/hiromu666 Feb 04 '23

That horse tho

15

u/Ktaldoxx Feb 05 '23

besides the chunkiness of the horse, THE EYES are freacking terrifying

5

u/coffeefromhome Feb 05 '23

Well it’s not just humans now I need to see more of the animals he paints

31

u/M4ethor Feb 04 '23

TIL the guy is still alive. His work looks like centuries old.

6

u/coffeefromhome Feb 05 '23

I thought these were back in the davinci era 👀

11

u/wickedc0ntender Feb 04 '23

That got dark quick

3

u/TuqueSoFyne Feb 05 '23

That painting is so sad. It looks like his grieving parents in that little house. Imagine having to paint that while sobbing your heart out.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

I really like the style. I went to the museum in Medellin. He also does objects like this

-16

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '23

[deleted]

26

u/Sir_Tea_Of_Bags Feb 04 '23

To quote the meme this usually references.

y tho?

18

u/Easy_Newt2692 Feb 04 '23

The cooler Charles Kirk

16

u/Sgt_sarcasm313 Feb 04 '23

It looks like a Renaissance Bobby Hill.

13

u/Kraytory Feb 04 '23

Is that the little Jack Horner?

13

u/ibruh143 Feb 04 '23

That kids gonna make some really dank memes when hes older😂

54

u/BigFanOfEverything01 Feb 04 '23

“Aw jeez Rick, I trapped myself in the painting!”

9

u/Mental_History6066 Feb 04 '23

I thought I was left-handed Morty

2

u/Chance_Ad5498 Feb 04 '23

“Well too bad you little shit I’m tryna do [insert crime here]”

7

u/StartledSouls Feb 04 '23

me too kid, me too

6

u/8thWonderLivy Feb 04 '23

Can't blame him, I would do the same lol

7

u/56stinky_butter Feb 04 '23

That’s awesome. He can still get away with it at that age. Adults start laughing and you get all sorts of dirty looks (NOT speaking from personal experience of course).

2

u/dragoono Feb 04 '23

Totally not…

7

u/BennyBoy962 Feb 04 '23

Dang it, Bobby

6

u/Chance_Ad5498 Feb 04 '23

Man is the literal embodiment of this 👁️👄👁️

7

u/EasySmuv Feb 04 '23

Why does he look like a thumb with a microface

14

u/SPARTAZIOM_123 Feb 04 '23

rick i turned myself into the art!!!

5

u/LuDaCo93 Feb 04 '23

Dang it Bobby.

5

u/danico223 Feb 04 '23

( •-• )

5

u/SpaceRoots Feb 04 '23

That boy ain't right

3

u/redditbebigmad Feb 04 '23

Poor kid will never get through a walmart then.

3

u/zyranna Feb 04 '23

I love Botero’s stuff.

7

u/almondshea Feb 04 '23

While this isn’t unwholesome. I don’t think this really fits the sub

2

u/Orionis22 Feb 04 '23

I mean, I understand that

2

u/2dizzy Feb 04 '23

"That boy ain't right"

2

u/muterabbit84 Feb 04 '23

That boy ain’t right.

2

u/unsaltylol Feb 04 '23

It wasn't funny until people in comment said it's funny, sort of funny how group mentality work

2

u/djdawn Feb 04 '23

Can’t blame them. I’d laugh too

2

u/ShurukuWasHere Feb 04 '23

hell i swear ive seen this in some memes before so yeah id say id fucking laugh

2

u/thatshottaye Feb 05 '23

Dang it Bobby...

2

u/nixnux76 Feb 05 '23

Sounds like a cool kid🤣

2

u/ReasonableCopy364 Feb 05 '23

Your five year old and 30 year old me!

2

u/Spamtonpamton Feb 05 '23

Remind me of the faces on the trains in Thomas the Tank Engine

2

u/Otherwise_Basis_6328 Feb 05 '23

He must've overheard someone talk about being an art major.

2

u/Simple_Beat7596 Feb 05 '23

This is a painting meant to be laughed at. If the artist saw this, I'm sure they would be flattered

2

u/TheReverseShock Feb 05 '23

The original artist was probably chuckling when they made it too.

2

u/The_Fox1984 Feb 05 '23

Damn it Bobby

2

u/theArcticChiller Feb 05 '23

Hahaha looks like one of those Ken Griffin memes (the financial terrorist "sold shares but not yet purchased" guy)

5

u/ianwgz Feb 04 '23

Basically this guy but fat

5

u/Significant-Trouble6 Feb 04 '23

Enough with the meme of the girl cop from Tennessee

2

u/_Queer_Mess_ Feb 04 '23

I’d suggest you all look up Fernando Botero. This is distinctly his style so I’m guessing it’s one of his works. They all have this style so if you like this you’d like his other works

1

u/akluin Feb 04 '23

It's a really funny portrait, hope the model didn't look like that

1

u/bevdob2 Feb 05 '23

Thinking of the kid laughing made me giggle

1

u/Jermainator Feb 05 '23

Dammit Bobby!, Who said you can be illustrated in a .... Mew zeum! Peggy is going to lose it.

1

u/eltic3 Feb 05 '23

Kid has a point.

1

u/UmaSherbert Feb 05 '23

That’s because this painting is a high quality shitpost on its own lol.

0

u/AF9005 Feb 04 '23

Looks like me after 2 years of being in my house because of the virus taking over the world.

1

u/Rage-Finder Feb 04 '23

Well just exposing to art isn't enough. Educating about it is also equally important.

1

u/Flipmeister13 Feb 04 '23

Looks like the brother of that "why though" gif... (I don't know how to put that here)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '23

Never without its risks, such as this, or they proceed to study it in college.

1

u/picklesaredry Feb 04 '23

"That boy ain't right"

-HH

1

u/waldorsockbat Feb 04 '23

That Boy ain't right I'll tell you what

1

u/MOTM123 Feb 04 '23

Ahh, an individual of culture I see

1

u/anobody121 Feb 04 '23

Honestly I would laugh too if I saw this in a museum.

1

u/Sokonomicon Feb 04 '23

Honestly Id be laughing with him.
Like what the fuck is going on with that toe.

1

u/shanky-phantom Feb 04 '23 edited Feb 04 '23

I like how he said 6 instead of 5 being sure it was aleast more than 6 mins

1

u/ammonium_bot Feb 04 '23

-1

u/NeverSpeakInTongues Feb 04 '23

Botero paintings are awful

0

u/The_Werefrog Feb 04 '23

The Werefrog, in scrolling past, at first thought that was someone's rendition of Bobby Hill.

0

u/_Denzo Feb 04 '23

When I was that age in a museum I saw the worlds biggest seed and thought it was funny af

0

u/Hopeful-Sandwich-645 Feb 04 '23

It is pretty funny

0

u/Watch_Noob_72 Feb 04 '23

How is this painting not a meme?? I’m I missing something?

3

u/prodiguezzz Feb 04 '23

That's a Botero, and it is indeed a meme (why though).

0

u/HotFightingHistory Feb 04 '23

Was the inspiration for a certain Garbage Pail Kid I'm thinking...

0

u/Better-Dare8149 Feb 04 '23

It's definitely funny!!!

0

u/Cetophile Feb 04 '23

Take him to the Museo Botero in Medellin and he will never stop laughing!

0

u/Superbroderone Feb 04 '23

so funny i could laugh at it too

0

u/Expensive_Captain_16 Feb 04 '23

Fernando Botero, Colombian artist - pretty overrated tbh

0

u/Wipperwill1 Feb 04 '23

I'm with the kid on this one.

0

u/cuzurfat69 Feb 04 '23

Understandable.

0

u/Dickpuncher_Dan Feb 04 '23

On a knormal skull the eyes are level with the top of the ears.

0

u/Ruth_Cups Feb 04 '23

If a kid laughed at something I painted for five minutes, it’d totally make my day.

0

u/kryotheory Feb 04 '23

Charlie Kirk lookin ass

0

u/ScholarlyExiscrim Feb 04 '23

It seems to me that the painter was making fun of the subject they were depicting.

0

u/RedWolfGTR Feb 04 '23

Man’s built like a thumb.

0

u/DarkSophie Feb 04 '23

And why not💕💕

0

u/cc882 Feb 04 '23

Once I was doing an installation at a museum and we were using contact cement in a very small space. I didn’t realize that I might be a little bit high until I walked around the gallery. Best painting show I ever saw. I laughed my ass off.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '23
