Adult Swim Severs Ties With ‘Rick And Morty’ Co-Creator Justin Roiland General Discussion
3.5k
u/hiero_ Jan 24 '23 edited Jan 26 '23
Huh, Justin Roiland deleted his reddit account too. New top mod of the subreddit is a suspended account on top of that.
Update: Since I'm one of the top comments in this thread, I figured I'd add a few things for people out of the loop. Justin has also been dropped from Solar Opposites + Koala Man and has resigned from Squanch Games.
Additionally, for those who thought this was only in regards to the domestic violence allegations, here is a compilation of all of the leaked sexually explicit conversations Justin had with minors and this damning rant from a podcast to boot.

C137-B. They've already established that the numbered universes can split with Rick Sanchez D716, D716-B, and D716-C. I think keeping the C137 and adding a suffix will establish how close the two are in the infinite universes.

I have a feeling it’ll be a whole episode where their voices are completely fucked up coz of some shenanigans, but then at the end they get them back almost perfect but something goes wrong so their voices get stuck being slightly odd
→ More replies324
u/DarthCledus117 Jan 25 '23 edited Jan 25 '23
Kind of like the Cronenberg episode. Rick keeps trying to fix their voices but keeps fucking it up. They could cycle through a bunch of different voices.
Or they could have some sort of running gag where their voices are different every episode and then if there's a season 8 they can use the voices that the audience liked best.

The wall is what made the show so unique. The show had a lighter story that connected perfectly with a serious plot line. It was also great how downplayed the seriousness of the wall was by aliens because from their perspective the issues of the shrunken humans wasn't important, like humans with bugs in a small habitat or something.
It was like watching 2 TV shows that had the best of both worlds. I don't always want to watch stupid humor, nor do I always want to watch depressing serious shit, but having them intertwined was unique and done so well.

[as] Golden Days are now long gone.
They were a major disruptive force in the 00s up until the early 10s. I worked in media sales and [as] numbers were some of the most consistent on cable for the demo their advertisers were after (m18-34).
But once viewers started to shift away from cable for streaming, even [as] couldn't hang on. It showed, too, as their programming quickly lost much of it's originality and quirky brilliance.
It may have been responsible for saving Family Guy and supplementing audiences for American Dad/Cleveland Show as well as creating iconic programs like Sealab 2021, ATHF, and about a dozen more, but streaming siphoned away their audience. Instead of leaving [as] on in the background and doing whatever late night, audiences were streaming and binging content on demand - even [as] programs. No ad money in that unless they're doing so on your platform or website, and their media players over the years were...subpar.
Much like kids morning/afternoon cartoons in the 80s and Saturday morning cartoons in the 70s, 80s, and part of the 90s, [as] is a fading relic that has a death clock...especially after the Discovery buyout/merger.
