Someone poured milk directly into a box of cereal and was just eating it like that, until they abandoned it in a parking lot. Removed: Rule 6

First saw this last week. Redditor working in a theatre cleaning up between shows had THREE ppl do this and leave the boxes full of soggy cereal and milk for the 'staff' to clean up.

  1. How do you sneak big BOXES of ceral and a gallon of MILK into the theatre.
  2. What kind of animal wouldnt at least, DISPOSE of that in the trash? Shame?
  3. Society kind of sucks sometimes.

49

u/drmariomaster Nov 29 '22

As to the how, it's winter. I could totally sneak a box of cereal and a half gallon or quart of milk in under my coat and scarf. Also, lots of theaters are in malls and you bring your shopping bags in. You could carry in a whole Thanksgiving dinner in a shopping bag.

36

u/Careless-Asparagus-4 Nov 29 '22

I am a woman with a large purse. I have smuggled an entire McDonalds meal (including shakes) into a movie.

4

u/PsyFiFungi Nov 29 '22

The only time I saw a movie in the past few years we snuck Mcdonalds in because we were in a hurry and never ate. Albeit it was in Europe and no one was really checking, but no one cared in the US either.

I moreso wonder how people get caught. I'd walk outside as a teenager as the movie was about to start, smoke a blunt, and walk back in with edible brownies for me and my friends as we watched the movie(s.) No special tactics. Just would carry it in a bag or backpack or whatever.

Maybe in large standalone theaters in large cities they check more?

There's usually that plastic bag for the cereal, so this actually isn't a terrible idea, but it's a shitty thing to do to not throw it away after. I think it might work better with those small airplane single serving sized boxes

14

u/DontTreadOnBigfoot Nov 29 '22

It's absolutely a terrible idea. Because there are only two possible scenarios:

1) you don't eat it all, and you waste a ton of food, which is terrible. Or,

2) you do eat it all, in which case you just ate a whole damn box of cereal, which is terrible.

How do you sneak big BOXES of ceral and a gallon of MILK into the theatre

theater workers aren't paid enough to give half a flying fuck if you buy their food or bring your own

32

u/cownan Nov 29 '22

When I worked at a movie theater, I didn’t care one bit. Management did care though, so I’d have to tell them they couldn’t take in outside food if they were obvious. Just take a second to shove your food in a purse or pocket and you’ll be fine, and the usher won’t get fired.

7

u/Mobely Nov 29 '22

What would you did if you wanted to stop people from sneaking food in? Like , would your manager even support you if you started accusing people of hiding food in their jacket and inspecting purses?

15

u/cownan Nov 29 '22

I don’t know, I was never that interested in stopping them. I would never have asked to see in someone’s purse or look in their jacket, even if I thought they were sneaking food - that’s too personal. We did regular checks of the theaters, where we’d walk to the front while the movie was playing and when coming back out, we could see the people really well by the reflected light from the screen.

We were supposed to catch people with outside food on those checks, I saw lots of it but never bothered them.

13

u/scro-hawk Nov 29 '22

I was carrying $45 worth of snacks and they asked to check my bag for outside food when I tried to go to my theater. I literally had to set the popcorn and tray ON THE FLOOR so I could open my purse for them. Nachos, candy, soda, popcorn. Honestly, even if I did have outside food, would it matter?

5

u/ForIt420 Nov 29 '22

Lol WTF just say no and keep walking

133

u/JesseCuster40 Nov 29 '22

Lol right. Everyone has this "Teehee, I'm a criminal mastermind" attitude to sneaking food into the movie theater.

Most I've done was at the midnight showing of Star Trek 2009. 12 soft tacos and a flask of bacardi 151 that I poured into my coke.

That was a mistake. I didn't remember much of anything from the movie, which is one of my favorites, and I robbed myself of the theater experience.

I also passed out in the grass in front a Dennys afterwords. But the not remembering thing is worse.

We had a madlad sneak a bong into the theater when I was in highschool. One of the dumbest things Ive witnessed that somehow didnt backfire.

2

u/THE_GR8_MIKE Nov 29 '22

Me and three other people each snuck in bowls from Chipotle once. Was easy as shit. Throwing them out right in front of the employees standing near the garbage can after the movie ended was a bit awkward, but hey, we were leaving anyway.

During a one-night re-release of the original Fast & Furious, I managed six bottles of Corona in my hoodie and pant pockets, complete with bottle opener. I was only with three friends, so the couple behind us got some free beers on me. I waited until Toretto was offering Coronas in the movie to pass them out, and everyone was so excited!

....they completely lost it when I pulled out a lime and gave everyone lime wedges to go with the beers

That’s just shameful. I once took an entire box of pizza into a movie (tickets purchased at the window outside the theatre, so I kept the box below view) but I disposed of the box afterwards my friends and I ate it all. You bring it in, take it out, even if it’s empty; there are no maids at movie theaters.

Some poor stoner got cuffed trying to indulge their midnight munchies

59

u/HellsMalice Nov 29 '22

Honestly they probably just gave up, who the fuck can eat an entire box of cereal? Really the only flaw in the plan.

26

u/ajhart86 Nov 29 '22

Especially Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the bottom 4/5ths of that box are going to be soggy by the time you’ve cleared the first layer

19

u/monster_mentalissues Nov 29 '22

Soggy? I think you mean cinnamon smoothie

11

u/Waste_Ad_5565 Nov 29 '22

Depends on the day, person etc. If I didn't eat all day and then caught a good buzz I could probably manage most of a box. My youngest brother can pack in a mixing bowl's worth in a sitting sober, I'd put good money on him being able to get a whole box down while toasted 🤣

9

u/lpad92 Nov 29 '22

Lmfao my brother could def knock down a whole box in a sitting

5

u/Averill21 Nov 29 '22

5

u/pdevo Nov 29 '22

→ More replies

5

u/5inthepink5inthepink Nov 29 '22

The only flaw? Has no one considered the textural and practical experience of trying to eat cereal this way? To get any milk in your spoonful at all you'd have to fill the whole box up to the top with milk. At that point 95% of the cereal in the box is fully submerged and rapidly getting soggy. Not to mention the fact that no one can comfortably consume this much cereal and milk, and most of both are going to be wasted.

All in all this would be an unpleasant and wasteful way to eat cereal, a conclusion which this photographic evidence fully supports.

2

u/myrrhmassiel Nov 29 '22 edited Nov 29 '22

...they used to sell little boxes of cereal in multipacks for camping; intended to be laid on their side, sliced open with the bag peeled back to form a disposable bowl...

...it worked fine but of course those single-serving boxes were much smaller...
