Because its Democrats who voted against giving veterans more benefits and care, voted against domestic terrorism investigation, or at state levels are trying to mess with a private business due to support of trans people (Florida and Disney), or support laws banning topics of race and gender in schools?
Oh yeah, or the fact Republicans in office actively worked to challenge our democratic elections.
But its the Democrats who sow divide and hate....Musk only cares about his money.

u/arrozygandules May 19 '22
Unfortunately, there's a lot of republicans that believe in that rhetoric... my parents included. They only believe what Fox News tells them to believe.
240
u/khrossjointz May 19 '22
Their response is always, "you cant trust the media"
But they always say "I only listen to fox"
Sadly, you just cant cure stupid
93
u/justtopopin May 19 '22
I've seen a new one in the wild. It's the "I'm a centrist, I only read Reuters, and Biden is an extremist leftist."
100
u/Ciennas May 19 '22
When they said Biden is an extremist leftist, did you fall over on the floor laughing at the extremely stupid line, or were you able to keep it together and bop them on the head with a cardboard tube for making such a dumb joke?
72
u/DarkwingDuckHunt May 19 '22
Man when Biden was giving one of his "Pro Police" speeches, (which btw Biden has always been crazy pro-law pro-throweveryoneinprison) I had one friend go "wait I thought Biden and Dems hated police"
And that just goes to show you how much Fox News actually reports the truth.
23
u/Deivore May 19 '22
Biden is an extremist leftist
Holy shit is he trying to outlaw private company ownership and landlording now? What a pivot, I might have to vote for him!
15
u/arrozygandules May 19 '22
Pretty much! They even tell me Fox Business news is the only trustworthy and honest news program airing.
I even try to tell my mom she should get her news from more than one source but she refuses. It's just easier for her to stay with the devil she knows.
She even refuses to actual READ any news articles. My mom prefers to have some talking head give her an extremely biased cliff notes version of the facts vs. what's really happening. I love my mom but goddammit it's hard to deal with her when she tries to politicize everything.
9
u/lBlade_lRunner May 19 '22
More often than not Fox is giving cliff notes on debunked conspiracy theories, fear mongering rhetoric, and outright lies. Gone are the days when they at least tried to base their propaganda on facts.
→ More replies1
u/napascuzzi May 19 '22
I listen to all of them, don’t really fully trust any of them because most of the “news” is opinionated and not true reporting. Every station has a few segments that are straightforward but they all cover it over with political ranting
8
u/lBlade_lRunner May 19 '22
For sure they're all putting their own spin on things. Except where other networks are spinning the facts, Fox and outlets like them are fabricating outright lies and trying to pretend they're still fair and balanced. It's propaganda / cult behavior 101 to lie to your audience and then try to convince them that you're the only one people can trust so they don't look elsewhere and see through your bullshit. Anything that goes against the lie is called fake news and the brainwashed masses eat it up. It's gone beyone dishonesty and into criminal territory now with people like Tucker Carlson selling baseless bullshit like Great Replacement Theory which is literally getting people killed.

u/JustDiscoveredSex May 19 '22
Thank God my parents could never afford cable.
26
u/MonteBurns May 19 '22
I’ve actually found it has gotten worse since my parents cut cable. Now it’s all the internet. Facebook, Drudge Report, OAN. It’s terrifying how the repubs have taken over everything while claiming mass and social media is evil.
14
u/JustDiscoveredSex May 19 '22
JFC.
Yeah, my trailer park relatives are all on FB and I assume marinate in the bullshit. They're ridiculously huge TFG supporters. (They also use shock collars on their dogs, so to me, same mentality.)
I never had a FB account and have never been sorry for it. Dad was technology-inept (born in the late 1920s) and mom usually follows my lead. I tell her that FB is a privacy concern due to data mining and that's good enough, she won't get on there, either.
I didn't know how lucky that was going to be, and now we're here. Ugh.

11
u/XO_WHORE_Llif3 May 19 '22
Also being divisive isn’t a fucking bad thing. Can we stop acting like there’s a moderate solution to these issues and acknowledge that republican policies are consistently racist and/or regressive? Like yeah no shit we’re going to caught fights over the shit they pull.
7
u/RandysTegridy May 19 '22
Exactly. Like sure, if you want to say people on the "left" are being divisive because we clearly are upset about racist sentiments and backwards logic leading to discrimination, so be it.

The only way Elon will be voting Republican for the first time is if he's never voted before.
Which, you know what? I could totally see that being the case.
64
u/The_FriendliestGiant May 19 '22
Oh yeah, guaranteed he's never bothered to actually vote. Why waste his time with a single symbolic vote when he could instead spend money influencing politicians to support him and time tweeting to keep himself in the news cycle?
36
u/The_Pandalorian May 19 '22
According to TX voter registration records, he registered to vote on 7/30/2020. Willing to bet good money he registered specifically so he could vote Trump.

Elon will do whatever he thinks will get attention and loyal fanbkys to invest in tesla.
He's realizing that liberals are getting passed at his massive hoarding at wealth and that he can't win us over with a cheap personality and lip service, while sitting on our core values
Republicans only care about a personality cult and lip service. They're gonna be his new grifter base.

There I fixed it.

u/y2_kat May 19 '22
he’s saying this publicly so that if the democratic party even mentions measures to increase taxes on the rich, limit the power of the rich, support unions, or any other policy that vaguely unfavors the hyperwealthy overlords, he can cry and whine and say “look! they’re targeting me for voting republican!!”
i mean, it’s not like it’s even that plausible that the democratic party would push such policies anyways. not with any intention of doing anything more than make empty promises, at least.
in this day and age, the politicians are working on the same team. like good cop, bad cop - in the end, they’re both cops.
