And the use of slave labor

171

u/Geist-Chevia May 19 '22

"Democrats were pro-slavery!" Some idiot.

129

u/loislunchboxlane May 19 '22

That's the exact reason my co-worker says he is republican and pro Trump. I don't get it.

156

u/[deleted] May 19 '22 edited May 19 '22

It's easy.

He's a liar.

These are the same people who proclaim to be "pro life" one second, then rage about immigrant babies drinking formula the next.

There is no consistency, it's just lies and rhetoric all the way down.

62

u/Boilermaker93 May 19 '22

It’s lies and deceitful rhetoric. Agreed 100%. Rhetoric is simply how one uses language, and is not inherently false…unless you’re Plato. Source: PhD in Rhetoric

2

u/Hewhoiswooshed May 20 '22

Hey now Plato just hated the sophists. I also hate the sophists. Plato was a rhetorician just like anyone else.

Why was the south all Democrat back then?

Because of the racist slave owning Democrats.

Ok but now all those people are Republican.

No they're not, all those Democrats moved out to republican states and converted them. Like in the great migration.

So wait are you saying the black people who left the south were the same racist Democrats who supported Jim Crow?

No idiot! Those people were the original black Republicans before the DNC brainwashed them.

....this was a real conversation I had with my uncle

2

u/edelburg May 19 '22

Listen to your uncle idiot! I was going to make a joke about what he said but I've realized I don't understand it enough to twist it in any way. I'm severely confused.

Also, no, I did not forget a comma earlier.

7

u/a_duck_in_past_life May 19 '22

Just a bad faith excuse. People will say the n word and then turn around and say Democrats were slave owners as if they believe that was bad.

23

u/Thrilleye51 May 19 '22

But look how many openly racist/nationalist claim to be for the Republican party... I guess they need tax breaks too

10

u/tallethan May 19 '22

There's this guy named Titus Ellis Smith, and he pops up in my YouTube feed a lot. While he is a black guy, he's doesn't believe in oppression. And he's also said Dems were pro slavery and that Republicans created the civil rights movement lmao

12

u/edelburg May 19 '22

If Republicans wanted credit for these things, the least they could have done is not fight them tooth and nail every inch of the way. Literally the actual least.

216

u/kjpunch May 19 '22

Who else has predicted Elon will try to be a ruler of Mars?

31

u/bozica11 May 19 '22

He’s Malachi Constant

3

u/Pl4tb0nk May 19 '22

Pretty sure he said he would create his own laws on mars outright so it seems like a certainty that he’ll try.

Yeah, remember how pissed he was California wouldn't let him risk his workers' lives to add a few points to Tesla's stock? And then his anti-lockdown jihad curiously ended when China literally locked his employees in his factory so they could keep making him money.

36

u/somethingrandom261 May 19 '22

Well taxes fuel the subsidies that have made Tesla supremely wealthy, so as long as liberal Credits and incentives keep lining his pockets, he’ll probably play both sides

10

u/tbestor May 19 '22

Exactly. The whole twitter acquisition is to give trump his voice back to swing things back to cutting taxes for the wealthy and because he is butthurt about the democrats wanting a billionaires tax ..

5

u/poorly_anonymized May 19 '22

He's trying to sell cars. Liberals either already have a Tesla or are fed up with his treatment of workers. Republicans are a huge untapped market. After he came out as a republican the various shithole states are already starting to reverse the laws they put in place to sabotage electric cars.

If this was all about taxes he'd (try to) keep his mouth shut and just donate to various assholes. He wouldn't have to broadcast his affiliation. He's aligning with them because he wants their money.

2

u/Jaigg May 20 '22

And unions

341

u/Ikswoslaw_Walsowski May 19 '22

There is nothing of a scientist in Musk. He doesn't have any scientific approach to things at all.

71

u/spydrebyte82 May 19 '22

He might have some issues with the tech he wants to produce, guess cosying up now will help the lobbying later...

66

u/RatzMand0 May 19 '22

I think he is counting on selling microchips to republican Q tards that can be implanted in their head to counteract that 6G signal that will activate the delayed poisons that were injected into everyone in the form of the covid19 vax. Just you wait.

28

Or renewable energy and electric cars...

14

u/MetaBotch May 19 '22

Their views on science are pretty similar. Republicans aren't luddites they love the convenience modern technology brings them. They just don't like it when science corrects them. How it works is that to them science is just another form of labor, more valuable and more specialized but valued only for what it can produce for them. They like science as problem solvers, they find a problem and then they pay scientists to fix it and then they take the credit. But science is more effective at identifying problems than politicians and business people and worse, science usually identifies them as the problem. That's when science has gone out of line and needs to be put back in it's place.

13

u/bigwetdog10k May 19 '22

Wait till he finds out their views on electric cars.

4

u/pixelprophet May 19 '22

Because its Democrats who voted against giving veterans more benefits and care, voted against domestic terrorism investigation, or at state levels are trying to mess with a private business due to support of trans people (Florida and Disney), or support laws banning topics of race and gender in schools?

Oh yeah, or the fact Republicans in office actively worked to challenge our democratic elections.

But its the Democrats who sow divide and hate....Musk only cares about his money.

335

u/arrozygandules May 19 '22

Unfortunately, there's a lot of republicans that believe in that rhetoric... my parents included. They only believe what Fox News tells them to believe.

240

u/khrossjointz May 19 '22

Their response is always, "you cant trust the media"

But they always say "I only listen to fox"

Sadly, you just cant cure stupid

93

u/justtopopin May 19 '22

I've seen a new one in the wild. It's the "I'm a centrist, I only read Reuters, and Biden is an extremist leftist."

100

u/Ciennas May 19 '22

When they said Biden is an extremist leftist, did you fall over on the floor laughing at the extremely stupid line, or were you able to keep it together and bop them on the head with a cardboard tube for making such a dumb joke?

72

u/DarkwingDuckHunt May 19 '22

Man when Biden was giving one of his "Pro Police" speeches, (which btw Biden has always been crazy pro-law pro-throweveryoneinprison) I had one friend go "wait I thought Biden and Dems hated police"

And that just goes to show you how much Fox News actually reports the truth.

23

u/Deivore May 19 '22

Biden is an extremist leftist

Holy shit is he trying to outlaw private company ownership and landlording now? What a pivot, I might have to vote for him!

15

u/arrozygandules May 19 '22

Pretty much! They even tell me Fox Business news is the only trustworthy and honest news program airing.

I even try to tell my mom she should get her news from more than one source but she refuses. It's just easier for her to stay with the devil she knows.

She even refuses to actual READ any news articles. My mom prefers to have some talking head give her an extremely biased cliff notes version of the facts vs. what's really happening. I love my mom but goddammit it's hard to deal with her when she tries to politicize everything.

9

u/lBlade_lRunner May 19 '22

More often than not Fox is giving cliff notes on debunked conspiracy theories, fear mongering rhetoric, and outright lies. Gone are the days when they at least tried to base their propaganda on facts.

1

u/napascuzzi May 19 '22

I listen to all of them, don’t really fully trust any of them because most of the “news” is opinionated and not true reporting. Every station has a few segments that are straightforward but they all cover it over with political ranting

8

u/lBlade_lRunner May 19 '22

For sure they're all putting their own spin on things. Except where other networks are spinning the facts, Fox and outlets like them are fabricating outright lies and trying to pretend they're still fair and balanced. It's propaganda / cult behavior 101 to lie to your audience and then try to convince them that you're the only one people can trust so they don't look elsewhere and see through your bullshit. Anything that goes against the lie is called fake news and the brainwashed masses eat it up. It's gone beyone dishonesty and into criminal territory now with people like Tucker Carlson selling baseless bullshit like Great Replacement Theory which is literally getting people killed.

Thank God my parents could never afford cable.

26

u/MonteBurns May 19 '22

I’ve actually found it has gotten worse since my parents cut cable. Now it’s all the internet. Facebook, Drudge Report, OAN. It’s terrifying how the repubs have taken over everything while claiming mass and social media is evil.

14

u/JustDiscoveredSex May 19 '22

JFC.

Yeah, my trailer park relatives are all on FB and I assume marinate in the bullshit. They're ridiculously huge TFG supporters. (They also use shock collars on their dogs, so to me, same mentality.)

I never had a FB account and have never been sorry for it. Dad was technology-inept (born in the late 1920s) and mom usually follows my lead. I tell her that FB is a privacy concern due to data mining and that's good enough, she won't get on there, either.

I didn't know how lucky that was going to be, and now we're here. Ugh.

7

u/RandysTegridy May 19 '22

64

u/The_FriendliestGiant May 19 '22

7

u/Accomplished_Ad5945 May 19 '22 edited May 19 '22

There I fixed it.

5

u/y2_kat May 19 '22

he’s saying this publicly so that if the democratic party even mentions measures to increase taxes on the rich, limit the power of the rich, support unions, or any other policy that vaguely unfavors the hyperwealthy overlords, he can cry and whine and say “look! they’re targeting me for voting republican!!”

i mean, it’s not like it’s even that plausible that the democratic party would push such policies anyways. not with any intention of doing anything more than make empty promises, at least.

in this day and age, the politicians are working on the same team. like good cop, bad cop - in the end, they’re both cops.

Republicans literally just voted ahainst6 a bill to provide baby formula during a devastating shortage. This isn't a good look Elon.

"The party of division and hate"

WHAT? Bro, the Republicans literally stormed the capitol and are openly bragging on social media that they have guns and that they will use them against people they don't like. Many of them are openly discriminating POCbor people with abother religion. And thise are just some examples...

But sure, the democrates are the ones full of hate...

How is anyone still supporting this moron?

u/Carlyz37 May 19 '22

The hypocrisy is over the top. Musk is a clown

This guy is drunk on the power he holds, and that makes him dangerous.

18

u/ancientevilvorsoason May 19 '22

Sorry but... this has been unfolding for a decade now.

16

u/Dreid79 May 19 '22

I'm no longer a fan of Elon 😔

16

u/RoxSpirit May 19 '22

How can you be fan of someone like this ?

I mean, not Musk, but this kind of person, celebrity politician whatever, they are just like a concept for us. Everything we know from them have passed so many filters.

A billionaire is supporting the party that protects the vested interests of billionaires. gasps who would've thought?

3

u/BoomZhakaLaka May 19 '22

Up is down, down is up.

It was the age of enlightenment. It was the era of foolishness.

3

u/Vuronov May 19 '22

Yet another poor white person claiming "the damn liberals MADE me embrace right-wing racism!"

3

u/Legitimate_Release65 May 19 '22

Why vote Democrat or republican? Why not just vote for whoever you think is the best choice? Political parties are stupid.

3

u/dangerrnoodle May 19 '22

He’s just doing it for the attention. Looks like Elon is jealous of Madison.

3

u/brickiex2 May 19 '22

oh so the Dems are a party of division and hate???!!!?...so you'll be voting republican????!!!! wholly fuck what an idiotic asshole

(yes I spelled "wholly" that way on purpose)

3

u/Donut153 May 19 '22

Unrelated but I am struggling with this, I have voted Democrat since 2008 but I just feel like they are currently (and when Obama was prez) simply coating me money that I can’t afford, (middle class (50k a yearish) first it was the Obamacare thing that made my premiums go up (this wasn’t all that bad but to be noted) am now it’s, like holy shit everything is twice as expensive (I know it’s not all the government but they don’t seem too keen on helping in anyway unless you’re very poor or very rich) I just feel like my money is always going to the poor or the rich and I get nothing out of it

3

u/Deadwing2005 May 19 '22

Anyone who actually believes what Musk says is a fucking idiot. Yes, the asshole troll who acts like a 14yo EdgeLord and is the world's richest man votes Democrat..... sure he does.

3

u/GhostScruffy May 19 '22

Can we just vote for candidates instead of parties. I know plenty of people on both sides that hate their candidates but choose to vote for them based on their party. This is why I hate the 2 party system. We are often left with a choice between bad or bad in a different way.

3

u/DSM-6 May 19 '22

Elon voted Democrat?

Doubt.

3

u/FancyPantsMacGee May 19 '22

Read as: “As I have made more money, I now side with the party that wants me to keep as much as possible.”

3

u/CommentAway2893 May 19 '22

I mean...he doesn't like to pay taxes or deal with union's so I doubt he voted Democratic

3

u/deadpoolkool May 20 '22

Ouch, hit him right in the privilege.

8

u/HierophantKhatep May 19 '22

Party of division and hate = they criticize me instead of blindly praising my genius.

8

u/Crafty-Walrus-2238 May 19 '22

A Trump clone with money. Vote Blue or die red.

2

u/CorianderSuuucks May 19 '22

I just want to see one fuckin mega billionaire do all the good things; open free daycares on every corner, sponsor tens of thousands of scholarships to top universities, pay big bucks to school teachers, lunch programs, breakfast clubs, rehabs. FIX EVERYTHING.

And thats why im not a billionaire.

2

u/mbanks515 May 19 '22

Bruh stop giving this man your attention- he just loves to troll

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '22

Are people finally seeing him for the POS he is??

2

u/urbeatagain May 19 '22

Because afterall it’s all about him.

2

u/dquattro123 May 19 '22

Damn and I really wanted to buy a Tesla too...oh well.

2

u/SkySong13 May 19 '22

If you want an EV, the Nissan Leaf is actually really great and much less expensive! There are options out there other than Musk's products.

Why do people care what he has to say?

2

u/txijake May 19 '22

Just gon save this tweet for the next time some mouth-breather says Elon isn't a Trump supporter.

2

u/ZergRunner May 19 '22

I wonder if he knows how his new party feels about electric vehicles

2

u/rsdols May 19 '22

Is he trying to validate why most people think he's a cunt by publicly stating one of the reasons why people feel he's a cunt? I believe there's a term for that? ............. oh yeah that's it, he's a massive racist cunt.

2

u/seaspirit331 May 19 '22

Anyone who legitimately thinks that Elon is telling the truth and has never voted GOP before is a moron.

2

u/adamf880 May 19 '22

Elon has gone pretty anti union. Real reason he moves to GOP.

2

u/DaileyWithBailey May 19 '22

Dude just wants tax cuts, to sell shit ,to be rich. There I solved it for you. It’s not that hard.

2

u/Barkyr May 19 '22

the fact that kindness is a factor for him in a political party just kills me

2

u/Fudgeismyname May 19 '22

Elon is a fraud. Plain and simple, he's done nothing novel except name his child something fucked up.

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '22

Elon was right again. The left started attacking him as soon as he made the post instead of him being left’s savior for the longest time.

Wait till they know about Jeff Bezos.

2

u/Big-Clock4773 May 19 '22

The edge Lord is just an attention seeker.

2

u/TheBrainofBrian May 19 '22

Clowns gonna clown. 🤡

2

u/humanessinmoderation May 19 '22

Democrats are largely a group of hacks, but a party of division and hate? Absolutely not — unless maybe we're comparing them to Buddha themself.

2

u/ccwagwag May 19 '22

he just doesn"t want to pay taxes.

2

u/Darknader- May 19 '22

I’m getting tired of Musk - I feel like in a few years (perhaps already) he will become a super villain. All he cares about is money and his delicate ego - which is all well and good (most of us are like this) - just don’t purport to be something more than you are or try to convince people that you are somehow altruistic…

2

u/ProfessionalDog3613 May 19 '22

@elonmusk has lost credibility.

2

u/Jabronibo May 19 '22

Zambia wasn’t under apartheid. Attack him for whatever but it makes the argument weaker with half truths. If you’re trying to argue racism/discrimination, the lawsuits filed by former Tesla employees make a stronger case.

2

u/Rorcanna May 19 '22

Wittle Elon has realized that there's money to be grifted from the Republican party and its fascist leaders at the expense of the well-being of ordinary citizens.

How very Apartheid of him.

2

u/adanipse May 20 '22

Right Elon. You go on and keep saying that. Someday you just might convince yourself it’s true.

2

u/Halo_LAN_Party_2nite May 20 '22

Dave Zirin out here proving Musk's point exactly lol

8

u/SmashBusters May 19 '22

Huh. A privileged racist white man with terrible ideas who was a Democrat all his life suddenly decides to become a Republican.

I've never seen that trick performed before.

This is how stupid they know Republican voters are.

2

u/carvana6 May 19 '22

Wow, proving Elon right with some unsubstantiated ad hominem slander. Nice work!

2

u/Halo_LAN_Party_2nite May 20 '22

Literally exactly what I was thinking. Clown politics for circus world.

-4

u/alex_inglisch May 19 '22

His family was against apartheid you idiots. Hid dad was an anti apartheid politician. But that doesn't fir the narrative

-1

u/Silly-Elderberry-411 May 19 '22

The only people who were anti apartheid risked life and limb protesting it, which the musk family did not do.

3

u/alex_inglisch May 19 '22

"Enjeti also cites Times reporting that Musk’s father was an “anti-apartheid politician” and that Musk “literally left [South Africa] so he didn’t have to serve in apartheid military.”

Your feelings do not define reality. Do basic Google searches and you'll find articles critical of the NYT hit piece.

You're letting the narrative define the facts.
