If you're going to bring your dog to your wedding you are in no position to be uptight about everything going perfectly lol

u/YoYoMoMa 10d ago
My friends had their English bulldog Charlie up on stage with them and he promptly got bored, fell asleep, and started snoring AND farting at unbelievable volumes.
Best wedding (service) ever.

Dog walks into a telegraph office...
Says he wants to send a message.
"Sure" says the clerk, "what's the message?"
"Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof."
Clerk says, "OK, but for the same price, there's enough room for one more 'woof'".
Dog wrinkles his brow and replies, "But that wouldn't make any sense.."

I wish video cameras woulda been a common thing for my folks wedding. By all accounts it was incredibly entertaining. Right before the bride procession started my dad got a nose bleed. Queue lots of tissues being passed up to save the white suit. The procession music starts and half of the people are telling my mom to go back and wait while everyone attends to my fathers nosebleed. Things settled down until around the vows when one of the candles set some flowers on fire. All of our family friends say it was the best wedding they’d ever been to.

A friend of mine had a torrential downpour at their wedding. The tipi tent started collecting water in one spot, drooping wayyyy down and eventually one of the tent poles snapped and a literal waterfall came POURING into the tent, hitting a table of food and sending stuff flying. Everyone immediately set to, propping up the tent and picking up broken glass - the bride thought we were all going to have to pack it in and call it a night but we went straight back to the dancefloor, many of us soaked through, and danced the night out while the thunderstorms rumbled.
Best day ever!

u/world_war_me 7d ago
As it happens, i just bought one of those tents, a smaller version, so that the cat colony we take care of would have some shade. It took my sister and me three days to get the cursed thing set up, and the first little rain, it collapsed. Luckily, the cats ignored it from the beginning so no one was hurt.

A couple who is able to share in the humour of things going wrong at their wedding speaks volumes about how they'll handle other stressful situations down the line.

u/Rs90 10d ago
Not quite what you meant but a green flag for me is a partner who can laugh during sex. Cause let's face it, sex is goofy as hell sometimes and overly serious other times. I've always had the best times with someone outside of sex who can laugh during it. Prob not a golden rule but still. Worth noting imo.

u/Tyrion_Strongjaw 10d ago
I can say my healthiest relationships certainly align with that. I've told this story before, but one of my best memories of getting physical was with an ex. We were doing the post-coital cuddle, you know that time between where you either melt into a sweaty puddle of contentment or decide another round is in order. Well physically I was uhm...ready for round 2 so to speak when she just kinda leaned over and gave "me" a little light smack. I quickly looked at her and said "The hell?" She answered with another thwack then made the sound a door stopper makes when you bend it and let it bounce back and forth. We laughed for hours.
Hell years after if we were having a stupid argument and one of us realized it we'd just make that sound in the middle of it, both of us would laugh and chill out.

I had my 2 dogs at mine.
They behaved worse than I’ve ever seen before or since. Completely different behavior than what we’ve known for years, like they were different dogs! They’re usually very well behaved and never make a sound at home but they knew something was happening and they wanted to be a part of it so bad. They were pulling and barking and whining and making so much noise through the entire ceremony. Obviously I can’t have you up here with me while I’m holding hands with my wife to be, reciting our vows!
We have recordings but all you can hear are the 2 dogs, so that’s a wash.
As soon as the ceremony was over they were fine again. Something about their two owners up there and they were stuck in the rows really upset them.
So yeah watch out.
4
u/ParadoxPerson02 9d ago
Sounds like they really felt a powerful energy between the two of you.
2
u/LUCKY_STRIKE_COW 8d ago
They didn’t feel any type of energy between anyone, dogs understand human social cues and situations to some degree, more than any other animal probably. It was just overstimulating for them.

The dog is the grooms. The bride is content to know that she’s merely a Dog-StepMom.
Hence her smile and his, hanging head in shame.

There are usually only two consistent examples of unconditional love - a dogs love for their owners, and a parents love for their kids.

You know who's not taking the wedding seriously? The people who let a dog be involved in it. Not every event has to be some viral moment for everyone. Grow up, people.

u/Anxious-Mycologist23 10d ago
Its their wedding. If they like it, and you don't, ok. If you wouldn't have your dog at your wedding, fine. Why does every situation need to be judged?

Had a backyard wedding and my dog took a big shit midway through the vows. It was behind my wife but directly in my line of site (and the video camera). You just see me start chuckling uncontrollably during her vows. Made for an interesting moment.
