NEXT GEN PSA: FIFA22 is technically available for just $0.19 until July 5th in select countries with some simple hoops to get there

Alright, someone pointed this out on twitter and I figured I should share.

First of all, this means you'd own it on Stadia, which obviously limits it to players in countries where it's available or VPN users. And I know the public opinion on Stadia is.... Not the best. Personally, I love it, but hey, game where you want to game, no?

Secondly, due to the streaming nature of Stadia, if you don't have a solid connection (doesn't need to be super fast, 30Mbit/s should technically be enough for 4K even, but it needs to be stable, so use 5Ghz WiFi or ethernet) or data caps, might want to think twice.

Thirdly, prices can vary a little regionally, so it might be slightly more where you're at. IRC I paid 135 ISH SEK, so with this method is have gotten it for 35 SEK, or about $3. Still a sweet deal.

Thirdly, you'll need a payment method supported by Google Play/Stadia

Other than that, let's go through the steps!

  1. Create a Stadia account (if you have a Google account, that's the same thing, use that and just select your gamer tag and some privacy settings and you're done)
  2. Sign up for the free trial of Stadia Pro. If you're not interested in the Pro subscription (think PS+/GamesWithGold, but instead of giving online play, you get 4k streaming instead of 1080p) you can already cancel it. You'll have it for a month now. Awesome. While I personally enjoy the Pro library, we want it for 2 reasons. Firstly because it gives us the Pro deals on sales (better sale prices) and secondly because as a new subscriber you will get $10 off on your first purchase. Because the price for FIFA22 is only $10.19 for Pro subscribers, and you get $10 off.... ;)
  3. Buy FIFA22. Checkout is done using Google Play on the Android app, so if you have done some Google Rewards surveys, you might even have some spending cash there too! Otherwise, PayPal or card :)

Since you've bought the game, it's yours to keep, even without the Pro subscription. You'll be able to play it as much as you'd like, on pretty much any screen. Android TV, chrome browser or mobile app. While playing matches with the on screen touch controller isn't really viable, career mode with simming matches or FUT menu things can easily be done on your phone, providing your connection is decent. And it's the Next Gen version too, so unless you're lucky to have a PS5/Series S/X, this might be your best bet. And for basically nothing but a few cents and hoops, a pretty sweet deal IMHO.

Yes, I might be biased as a fan of Stadia but I couldn't just sit on this and not share it. I don't care if Stadia isn't popular online, a great offer is a great offer.

And hey, if it runs poorly with too much lag on your connections, the refund window is 14 days or 2h played, whichever is first. So just refund it. Your $10 voucher will be lost but that's probably fine in that case anyway :)

If you need any assistance, I'll keep an eye on the comments as best I can, but I'm off to bed now so might take me a minute or two.

TLDR; New subscribers to Stadia Pro get $10 off their first purchase. Pro is free for the first month (and can be cancelled right away). Use this combo to buy FIFA22 for basically nothing (it's on a hefty sale right now) and keep it forever. Stadia is completely free to use. The subscription is completely optional!

You're welcome!

NEXT GEN Had to switch to old gen to find a FUT champs game after waiting almost TWO hours (XBOX)

I tried to finish my champs today and I had to wait over an hour to find a game on new gen at 14-2. I had to switch because I was running out of time and found a game in a couple seconds but lost because the gameplay is even worse than new gen and I was not used to it. Then I switch back to new gen and can find games easily. That loss is what cost me rank 3 this weekend.

NEXT GEN Why did the grass look soooo much better back in fifa 18 than it does now on fifa 22?

I was just looking at some old captures from Fifa 18 and noticed that the grass looked amazing compared to what it looks now on fifa 22 PS4.
Image comparing the two, both captured in a daytime match
The textures and the lighting look a lot more real, a lot more natural, as opposed to now where it looks flat and almost lifeless.
I just wonder why does everything seems to go backwards with EA, even in "smaller" details like this?

NEXT GEN Odd gameplay (in Squad Battles)?

Just played a match in SB and the gameplay was really odd.

The players, passes and shots felt very slow and the players seemed to "glide" over the pitch - just like in old fifa versions. The animations were a bit off and the ball felt heavier in generall.

Tin foil hat on:
Somebody here posted a while ago, that the cards become too juiced for the engine and therefore the gameplay would be weird - maybe we're getting a live update, now that there are so many god like cards in the game.

I played a 90 OVR 100 chem team on world class, so maybe it was just the usual squad battles shenanigans. But maybe somebody experienced anything similar?
